10% reduced rates for utilities provided by the city of Everson including water and sewer, available for low-income seniors and disabled adults exempt from Whatcom County property taxes.
A state Medicaid program (formerly Medicaid Personal Care, or MPC) for people on Medicaid who need help with activities of daily living, including eating, dressing, bathing, or mobility. The program is administered by the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA), even for people who are not eligible for DDA. Personal Care services are typically provided in your home.

Helps family members work out a plan around an elder's healthcare, living arrangement, financial situation, communication and more.
Meals are offered on a donation-only basis to adults age 60+ (suggested donation $5.00). Others will be charged the full cost of the meal ($8.50). Meals are also available to-go. Senior Center membership not required to participate in the meal program.
Non-medical assistance for aging persons and those with disabilities living in their homes. Homecare workers do everything from housework (grocery shopping, laundry, dishes, etc.) to personal care (dressing, bathing, transferring, etc.). For all income levels, CCS brings affordable, personal care every day, sustaining those who are served with dignity in the home they cherish.

A monthly check that replaces part of your income when you reduce your hours or stop working altogether. It may not replace all your income so it's best to identify other ways to pay for your monthly expenses as you age.

A Medicare-approved plan from a private company that offers an alternative to Original Medicare for your health and drug coverage. These “bundled” plans include Part A, Part B, and usually Part D. Plans may have lower out-of-pocket costs than Original Medicare, and may offer some extra benefits that Original Medicare doesn’t cover, like vision, hearing, and dental services.

Provides both practical assistance and a caring community to support members in feeling more secure and confident while living in their homes as long as possible. Only available to people aged 50+ living in Bellingham.
SHIBA (Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisors) is a free, confidential, and impartial Medicare counseling resource. Volunteer SHIBA advisors are highly experienced in counseling Medicare-eligible residents of all ages and backgrounds, trained to help you understand your rights and options by offering up-to-date information so you can make informed decisions related to your health insurance needs.

Helps adults with challenging behaviors transition from a hospital to a long term care facility that meets their needs. This program is for adults with serious mental illness, dementia, mood disorder or other neurological disorders. Eligible adults also have challenging behaviors which are a barrier to hospital discharge OR their long term care facility placement is at risk due to challenging behaviors.
A 35-bed tiny home community that primarily serves individuals and couples experiencing homelessness who are 55+ and/or medically fragile. The village has on-site case management and 24/7 staff.
Helps cover the cost of prescription drugs. You can join a Medicare drug plan in addition to Original Medicare (Parts A and B), or you get it by joining a Medicare Advantage Plan with drug coverage (Part C). Plans that offer Medicare drug coverage are run by private insurance companies that follow rules set by Medicare.
