Asylum Services - Northwest Immigrant Rights Project - Seattle Office

Defends the rights of people who have a fear of persecution in their home country and help them gain safety through asylum. Also assists 'pro se' applicants with navigating the asylum application process, and works with outside agencies, communities, and organizations to promote the rights and dignity of and offer support services to persons fleeing persecution in their home countries.

Migrant and Seasonal Farmworker Promotores Program - Sea Mar Bellingham Medical Clinic

Provides linguistically and culturally appropriate health care services and health information to the farmworker community. During high migrant season, services include mobile medical and dental clinics at farms, farmworker camps and housing sites, and summer health fairs. During off-peak season, services include culturally-appropriate workshops, and presentations and events to farms, housing sites and gathering spaces on critical health topics.

Small Group Classes - Whatcom Literacy Council

Classes for adults to work together to study reading, writing, and speaking in English. Classes include Talk Time (practicing English conversation), preparing for the GED (General Education Diploma), citizenship test preparation, and learning and improving basic computer skills. Summer Migrant Program - Vamos Outdoors Project

In partnership with area schools, this service provides summer school programs for Migrant and Latine youth that combine bilingual academic instruction with outdoor experiences. These summer programs allow Vamos to help families that move temporarily to the area to work in agriculture by providing a space for their children to engage in meaningful activities and enjoy their temporary home while their parents are at work. Children are enrolled based on where they live and what school they attend, with priority given to participants that are multilingual and whose dominant language is Spanish.

State Food Assistance Program - Bellingham Community Services Office (DSHS)

Provides benefits to legal immigrants who are not eligible for the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), called Basic Food in Washington, solely because of immigration status. Households that include a person eligible for FAP receive the same amount of food benefits they would receive for this person if they were eligible for SNAP.
