Bellingham Severe Weather Shelter - Whatcom County Health and Community Services

Shelter will open when severe cold weather forecasts meet opening criteria. When activated, the shelter will be open from 4:00 PM to 9:00 AM, with check-in from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and lights out from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The space can hold approximately 60 people, with limited storage space for personal belongings. Service, emotional support, and therapy animals are welcome.

Crisis Triage and Stabilization - Whatcom County Triage Center

The Whatcom County Triage Center (WCTC) in Bellingham can accommodate up to 16 individuals at once who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Services include crisis stabilization, safety planning, and referrals for ongoing care. Individuals may self-refer or be referred by a community partner such as a behavioral health provider, hospital social worker, or medical provider. The facility can also accept drop-offs from law enforcement and emergency medical technicians as a diversion alternative to jail or the emergency room.
