Vanpool - Whatcom Transportation Authority

Allows groups of people to "lease" a WTA-owned van for the purpose of commuting to and from a common worksite. The vanpool group pays a fare based on the number of miles the van travels each month. Fares cover all costs to operate the van, including fuel, maintenance and insurance.

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation - Northwest Regional Council

Free non-emergency medical transportation for Medicaid eligible recipients. At least two full business days' notice required. Assistance for bus passes and gas vouchers also available.

Zone Service - Whatcom Transportation Authority

Provides limited transit service to rural areas of Whatcom County. There are no eligibility requirements for using zone service; anyone within the designated area can request a ride. Service is only available to each zone on certain days of the week. Advance reservations are required.

Fixed Routes - Whatcom Transportation Authority

Fixed routes provide service to designated bus stops using large transit buses.\u200b\u200b \u200bWTA provides service seven days a week, with more limited service on Saturdays, Sundays and evenings.\u200b Fixed routes serve Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden, Blaine and Birch Bay, Lummi Nation, Sudden Valley, Kendall, Everson, Nooksack and Sumas.

Can provide a small amount of emergency financial assistance for personal needs such as: Utility bills, gas, medical costs, bus fare, insurance, storage fees, clothing, groceries, and auto repair parts (no rent or auto repair labor). Assistance with ID/driver's licenses as well as referral to other resources are available as well.

Provides limited financial assistance vouchers for people in need living in Whatcom County. Helps pay for gasoline, food, utilities, phone bills, bus passes, and ID and driver's licenses. Amounts range from $50 to $200. Available only once every twelve months.
