Can help with Puget Sound Energy bills that have a status of Urgent, Final, or Disconnect for residents of Blaine, Birch Bay, Custer, Everson, Nooksack, Point Roberts, Sumas, or Lynden.
Three available programs to subsidize electric costs for city of Sumas customers. Base fee waiver, 5% senior discount, and an Electric Bill Donation program are all available through the same application for qualifying residents.
Additional housing or utility cash benefit for individuals and families already in the TANF or SFA programs. Program intent is to keep people in housing, prevent utility disconnection, or get clients into housing.
Discount on sewer charges for qualifying seniors with utilities provided by the city of Sumas.
Help paying a PSE bill for people who have an urgent and/or shut off notice. Appointment with Opportunity Council Energy Assistance needs to be scheduled first (temporary assistance offered in the event appointment is scheduled far out).
The HELP program provides assistance for residential customers to help pay Puget Sound Energy bills. If qualifying, your account is credited to aid in bill pay.

Bill assistance for home heating, utility, and energy bills. Households must be income eligible to receive assistance. Help may be available for electricity, natural gas, propane, heating oil, and firewood bills. Assistance with heating and cooling infrastructure such as furnace repair and replacement or air conditioners may be available depending on funding and season.
Provides temporary cash assistance for families in need. Some families participate in the WorkFirst Program which helps participants find and keep jobs. Persons who are eligible may also qualify for Diversion Cash Assistance, which can help with living expenses when a family needs short term assistance and meets program requirements.
