Free introductory courses for people who have no computer experience or who need a little extra training. Learn the basics of how to operate a computer, including typing (keyboarding), internet and email. Later, take classes in Microsoft Word and Excel to learn to create simple spreadsheets and documents like a resume. Online job search classes and special computer classes for non-native English speakers also offered.

Offers free one-to-one tutoring services for adult English language learners. Services include support for English reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills; GED (General Educational Development) test preparation; and basic computer skills.

Wi-Fi equipped mobile classroom that offers digital services to community members in rural locations. Providers can contact to host classes or workshops. Community members can view upcoming workshop schedule online and call to register.

Need help with technology questions or with using the Library’s electronic resources? Help is available by phone, by email, in person, or with one-on-one assistance during a Tech Basics Coaching session. Coaching sessions take place every Wednesday afternoon at the Central Library. Classes for adults to work together to study reading, writing, and speaking in English. Classes include Talk Time (practicing English conversation), preparing for the GED (General Education Diploma), citizenship test preparation, and learning and improving basic computer skills. Bellingham Public Library subscribes to online tools that help you to learn new skills using self-paced lessons. Tools include LinkedIN Learning for Library (self-paced courses on a wide variety of topics), Mango Languages (tools to learn 70+ languages, including courses for ESL learners), and Northstar Digital Literacy (everyday computer skills).

In conjunction with Washington State Library, WCLS patrons can access practices courses, practice exams, and certification exams for several technical and specialist certifications. Currently offered certifications include IT professional credentials, CISCO, Intuit/Quickbooks, Microsoft, and more.
