Whatcom Clubhouse is a nonclinical social rehabilitation approach to address mental illness and is considered a ‘Peer Run and Support Program’. Any adult Whatcom County resident with a mental health diagnosis can apply for a free membership, which allows participating in structured, social daily activities at the Clubhouse location.

Eligible adults also have challenging behaviors which are a barrier to hospital discharge OR their long term care facility placement is at risk due to challenging behaviors.

A 24/7 intensive community outreach that provides crisis intervention/prevention and recovery stabilization services to adults in a community. Services include abortion, birth control, emergency contraception, gender-affirming care, HIV services, pregnancy testing and planning, STD testing and treatment, primary care, period and menstruation supplies, vaccines, and wellness/preventative care.

Offerings include lap swims, American Red Cross swim lessons and training courses, shallow water aerobics, deep water running, as well as preschool swims and open swims for people to play and enjoy the facility.

This free class is an experiential learning program for people experiencing a mental health challenge who are interested in establishing and maintaining their wellness and recovery. Peer-to-Peer consists of eight two-hour units and is taught by a team of two trained teachers and a volunteer support person, all of whom are personally experienced at living well with mental illness.

Adaptive riding lessons are taught by PATH International certified instructors. Lesson plans take into account the participant's physical, emotional, and mental strengths and limitations. Classes include arena riding, trail rides, and group activities.

Max Higbee Center members are paired with a Community Engagement provider to receive one-on-one support to introduce community resources and create lasting relationships, develop goals and strategies, and learn skills that will facilitate integration into the community. This program is contracted through DDA and must be approved by your case manager prior to program start.

Services include dine-in and delivered daily lunches, wellness programs, exercise & strength training classes, recreational activities, entertainment, art & music classes, special events, and information about community support services.

GED prep prepares students for the GED test. Students work in groups, on computers, and individually at their own pace. Focus on improving basic academic and workplace skills. Requires a positive attitude and commitment to attending classes.
